‘‘Tis the season…”

When Christmas is over, there will be an opportunity to reflect on what constitutes the spirit of Christmas in our current times. I hope everyone gets what they want and that they can pay for it.

‘Tis the season …..

January is not a month that’s easy to adore
With Christmas gone and winter deep we know there’s nothing more.
The bills roll in our headaches are much more than pills can cure
And looking back we wonder why we fell for Santa’s lure

But is it Santa doing this or business at its worse
Black Friday, Cyber Monday they infect us with a curse
That seems to make a lot of folk spend money they don’t own
With credit cards they blast away and make their wallets groan

I wonder what the answer is as folk get more obsessed
With buying things they do not need when they are most hard pressed
I’d like to think that one year soon a lot more will agree
To think afresh what Christmas means and end the shopping spree.
